To the Inland Sea and back again

It was one of those typical fridays, 48°C and a light breeze blowing softly with a temperature of 44°, feeling quite cold!
Me and my austrian friends were on the way to the Inland Sea,  near the border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Roads do not exist, there is a what they call Highway, but it's nothing more than traces left from the previous car, less than 5 minutes before, going to the same place.
And this Highway is no ordinary highway, it runs through the dunes, up and down, round and over... Suddenly you reach a point where there is no going back. Forget your reverse gear in the sand! Beneath your car there are 25 meters of downfall, and then you might have an easy landing in the water or a safe drive on the sealine... That's up to your driving skills!
At that point you must take a leap of faith, trust your car won't rollover, give gas in the middle and try not to get stuck... more gas and start steering...
Gently enough you'll be driving out of the water and safely ahead!
That day we climbed hundreds of dunes, we had a beautiful lunch in some fake tents in the desert and a refreshing swim in the Persian Gulf and some scratchy sandboarding...

Just an ordinary friday in Qatar!
